๐ŸŒพ About Savanna Watch

This site publishes independent science journalism on savanna ecology, fire ecology, tree-grass dynamics, large herbivores. Every article is written by a credentialed researcher and draws on peer-reviewed literature, primary scientific sources, and expert institutional data. Dr. Nomvula Dlamini โ€” PhD Ecology, University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), South Africa

Dr. Nomvula Dlamini is a savanna ecologist specialising in African grassland and savanna dynamics, fire ecology, and the responses of savanna ecosystems to climate change and large herbivore impacts. She completed her PhD at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in Johannesburg in 2012, where her research focused on tree-grass coexistence dynamics and fire regime effects on savanna biodiversity in Kruger National Park. Dr. Dlamini has conducted long-term ecological research across southern and east African savanna systems, including the Serengeti-Mara, the Okavango, and the Kalahari. She has collaborated with South African National Parks (SANParks), the African Wildlife Foundation, and the IUCN's Savanna and Dry Forest Specialist Group. Her published research appears in journals including Ecology, Journal of Ecology, and Global Change Biology. Savanna Watch was founded in 2023 to provide expert, independent science journalism on the world's savanna and grassland ecosystems.

๐Ÿ“ Editorial Standards

Every article published on this site is based on peer-reviewed scientific literature, data from recognised research institutions (IPCC, NOAA, IUCN, NASA, WWF, WCS, and others), and the author's own research experience. We do not publish opinion, speculation, or content that has not been verified against primary scientific sources.

When scientific findings are contested or uncertain, we represent that uncertainty clearly and cite the range of current expert opinion. Corrections to published articles are made promptly and transparently.
